Healthy Eating Habits ” How To Keep A Healthy Lifestyle At Work If you are working in a regular office setting, it is easy to just buy food at a nearby fast food joint or restaurant or just grab anything at the convenience store or vendo machine. You might not know it, but you could be spending on food that does very little to nurture your mind and body. Aim to eat healthily not only at home, but also while you’re at work. Make sure not to skip breakfast. You need energy to think and function well until it is time to have your mid-morning snack or lunch. If limited time is a problem, you could make yourself a sandwich or cut up some fruits the previous night. Take it with you as you leave your home and just eat it while on you’re on your way to work. Prepare and bring your own snacks and lunch. Home-made food is far more beneficial in terms of cost, taste, and nutritional value compared to those that you can purchase from the corner store, snack bar, or cafs which tend to be pricier. Put them in reusable, microwaveable, and spill-proof containers. Use an insulated carrier bag or place them in the fridge as soon as you reach the office to prevent spoilage. Eat at the right time and at the right place. Try, as much as possible, always eat on schedule and make sure to do so in a designated eating area or room only. Focusing on your eating sans distractions such as phone calls or the computer enables you to eat properly at just the right amount. It is also a perfect time to have a change of ambiance and mingle with other people as a means to take a breather from your busy work life. It’s for this reason that most offices have pantries as part of the Interior design. Employers ought to make sure that their office interior design includes a fully-equipped pantry fitted with all the essentials such as a sink, fridge, microwave oven, oven toaster, as well as eating utensils. Keep non-perishable snacks in your office cabinet for when you cannot have lunch yet because of urgent tasks or when you need to stay beyond office hours. Nuts, raisins, biscuits, and energy bars are healthy options that will also come in handy when you go hungry in between meals.
